The Five Behaviors® – frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before ordering The Five Behaviours Team Development or Personal Development profiles online – pricing, ordering, facilitation, and how reports are delivered.

About The Five Behaviours

What is The Five Behaviours?

The Five Behaviours is a team and personal development solution developed with Patrick Lencioni, combining his teamwork framework – Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability and Results – with personalised insights based on the participant’s own behavioural style. You may also see the model described as The Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team. It’s available as two profiles: Team Development, for an intact team, and Personal Development, for individuals.

Is The Five Behaviours based on the book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team?

Yes. The Five Dysfunctions of a Team is Patrick Lencioni’s book. The Five Behaviours is a separate assessment product, developed by Wiley with Lencioni, that applies the book’s model – Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability and Results – and adds a personalised report for each participant. You don’t need to have read the book to take the assessment.

Is it the same as The Table Group’s Five Dysfunctions Team Assessment?

No – they are two different products from two different organisations. The Table Group, Lencioni’s own business, markets its own Five Dysfunctions Team Assessment, which reports at team level. The Five Behaviours profiles sold here are published by Wiley and give every participant a personalised report, with Team Development adding team-level results and each person’s DiSC® style. We sell and administer the Wiley profiles, not The Table Group’s assessment. Our Five Dysfunctions of a Team assessment page compares the options side by side.

Is this an official Five Behaviours product?

Yes. These are official Five Behaviours profiles, sold and administered in the UK by Mission Group. The underlying assessment, model content and reports are published by Wiley – we handle UK ordering, invitations, completion monitoring and report delivery on your behalf. Mission Group is an Authorised Partner for The Five Behaviors®. Find out more about us

Is it Five Behaviors or Five Behaviours?

Both refer to the same product. The official Wiley product name uses the American spelling, “The Five Behaviors”, which is how it appears in our main page headings. Everywhere else we use the normal UK spelling, The Five Behaviours. There is only one product – the spelling doesn’t change what you buy.

Choosing a profile

Team or Personal Development – which do I need?

Choose Team Development if everyone you’re buying for is part of one intact team that works together day to day and you want a shared, team-level view. Choose Personal Development if you’re buying for individuals who don’t all belong to the same team, or you want personal, portable teamwork insight rather than a team-level result. See our full Team vs Personal Development comparison for a side-by-side breakdown and a short decision guide.

What’s included?

Every order includes one official assessment and a personalised report per participant, Mission-managed administration, and email and telephone support throughout.

Team Development adds team-level results and discussion and action-planning content for the team. We send assessment invitations and monitor completion. Once everyone in your team has completed their assessment, we send the reports together in one bundle.

Personal Development: each participant is emailed their own access code when you register them, and we monitor completion.

See what’s included on the Team Development and Personal Development pages.

How do the two profiles use DiSC®?

Differently. Team Development is powered by Everything DiSC®: each participant learns their own DiSC style and sees the styles of others in the team. Personal Development uses the participant’s DiSC results behind the scenes to personalise the feedback, but it doesn’t name a DiSC style or teach the DiSC model.

Can I see a sample report before I buy?

Ordering & pricing

Can I buy profiles without facilitation?

Yes. Both profiles can be bought and administered on their own, with no facilitation required. Facilitation is entirely optional and can be added later if it would help your team – see our facilitation page for details. You can buy profiles directly from the Team Development and Personal Development pages.

How much does each profile cost including VAT?

Team Development: £135 + VAT / £162.00 inc VAT per person (minimum 3 profiles).

Personal Development: £99 + VAT / £118.80 inc VAT per person (minimum 1 profile).

See the Team Development and Personal Development pages for full details. For Team Development you choose your quantity at checkout (minimum 3) and see the total before you pay. The online Personal Development checkout is for one profile – to buy for a group, email us and we’ll arrange the order with you.

Is there a minimum order?

Team Development has a minimum order of 3 profiles, since it’s built for an intact team. That’s our ordering minimum: Wiley recommends Team Development for small to medium-sized intact teams of around 5–12 people who have worked together for at least six weeks. Personal Development has a minimum order of just 1 profile, so you can buy a single profile for one person if that’s all you need.

Do you support consultants and internal HR teams?

Yes. Alongside our standard Mission-managed administration, we also support independent consultants and internal HR/L&D teams who want to manage their own EPIC/admin account, buy in volume, or ask about the facilitation kit. See our page for consultants and facilitators, or email info@missiongroup.org and we’ll talk through the options that suit how you work.

What is the cancellation/refund position once access is issued?

Because each profile is a personalised digital assessment, it is not normally refundable once assessment access has been issued to a participant. If you order the wrong profile and access hasn’t been issued yet, we can usually switch it and adjust the price – and if you need to change or cancel an order before invitations go out, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do what we can to help. This is a summary – our refund policy sets out the full position.

Set-up, invitations & reports

How quickly is my order set up?

After you pay, we email you a link to register your participants.

Team Development: once you’ve registered your team name and every participant, we set the team up on the Five Behaviours assessment system and send the invitations. When the reports arrive depends on when the last person in the team completes.

Personal Development: when you register a participant, our system emails them their own access code and a link to start the assessment.

How long does the assessment take?

The online assessment is short – most participants complete it in around 15–20 minutes. It can be completed on a computer, tablet or phone, and there’s no need to prepare beforehand.

How are invitations sent?

After you order, you’ll complete a short registration form with each participant’s name and email address (plus your team name for Team Development). For Team Development, we set up the team, send each participant their assessment invitation and monitor completion. For Personal Development, each participant is emailed their own access code when you register them, and we monitor completion.

Who receives the reports?

Team Development: Once everyone in your team has completed their assessment, we send the reports together in one bundle. If you have particular requirements about who receives the reports – for example for a sensitive leadership-team project – email us before you register your team and we’ll agree the arrangements with you.

Personal Development: each participant uses their own access code to complete the assessment and access their report. If you need a different arrangement, email us before you register participants.

Do Team Development reports arrive all at once?

Yes. We monitor completion, and once everyone in your team has completed their assessment, we send the reports together in one bundle, so the whole team starts from the same picture.

What happens if a participant email is wrong?

Just let us know. If an invitation bounces or you spot that an email address was entered incorrectly, we’ll correct it and resend the invitation promptly at no extra charge.

What are Comparison Reports and Progress Reports?

A Comparison Report looks at two people who both hold a Five Behaviours Team Development or Personal Development profile and shows where their approaches are similar and where they differ – useful for pairs who work closely together. It’s based on their Five Behaviours results, not on a separate Everything DiSC® assessment. A Progress Report is for Team Development: the team takes the assessment again some time later to see how its behaviours have changed. Ask us if either would be useful and we’ll explain what’s involved.

Facilitation

Can sessions be delivered virtually or in person?

Yes. Facilitated sessions can be delivered virtually or in person, depending on what works for your team. See our facilitation page for the formats on offer – profiles themselves don’t require any facilitated session at all.

How do I get a price for facilitation?

Contact us for pricing. Tell us your team size, preferred format and rough timing, and we’ll confirm a clear price before you commit to anything. Profiles are priced separately unless bundled. The sessions we offer are on our Five Behaviours facilitation page.
